Mill Valley is situated on the eastern slopes of Mount Tamalpais and the western and northern sides of Richardson Bay. Occupying narrow woodland valleys on the eastern slopes of Mount Tamalpais, primarily made of second-growth redwoods, beyond the flat coastal region and marshlands. Just 10 miles north of San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge, the quaint community of just over 15,000 residents is renowned for its strong artistic heritage. Visitors to downtown Mill Valley’s vibrant community and downtown streets are filled with one-of-a-kind shops, galleries, and restaurants. Top-notch public schools and direct access to world-renowned hiking trails centered around Mount Tamalpais make Mill Valley an incomparable delight.

Dipsea Stairs

First run in 1905, the Dipsea is the oldest trail race in America. It is run every year on the second Sunday in June. The scenic 7.4 mile course from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in the world. The stairs and steep trails make it a grueling and treacherous race.

Flour Craft opened its first retail location in San Anselmo in 2013. They quickly became the area's finest gluten-free bakery, satisfying those with dietary restrictions and surprising those without. With a second Marin location at the MiIl Valley Lumber Yard, which opened in 2018, Flour Craft creates its seasonal menu from local ingredients in a dedicated gluten-free facility. Providing fresh bread, a large assortment of baked goods, and plant-forward brunch & lunch options, their cafes are a welcome addition to the Marin County community.

Built in 1966, the 27,000 sq. ft. building contains hand-crafted walnut furniture by Art and Tripp Carpenter and many original works of fine art including oil-on-canvas works by Ray Strong and Ludmilla Welch.

Sweetwater Music Hall

The original Sweetwater opened in 1972 in a rustic, downtown Mill Valley storefront. In the '80s, the Times of London hailed the Sweetwater as one of the best nightclubs in America. In September 2007, sadly, the original Sweetwater closed its doors. Five years later, we reopened as the Sweetwater Music Hall a couple of blocks away on Corte Madera Ave. This reincarnation holds true to the heart of the old days and aims to feed the soul with music, community, and excellent food. The journey is just beginning at the new Sweetwater Music Hall, and we hope to continue feeding the soul of the Bay Area & beyond for years & years to come.

Located in the historic Mill Valley Lumber Yard, Watershed is a purveyor of contemporary California cuisine from Chef Kyle Swain. Built over the creek in what is the original sawmill of Mill Valley. Our cuisine is directed by what is available from our local farmers, ranches, and fisheries. Come enjoy the rustic flavors and great beverages in our inviting shed built over the creek with stunning views of Mt Tam.
