Bay Area Michelin Winners

Michelin has published a guide for the entire state of California for the first time ever (and it’s available online in Chinese and Spanish too) with dozens of newly starred restaurants from San Diego to Sacramento. Previously, the guide only covered the San Francisco Bay Area and Wine Country. If you’re chomping through Michelin stars like Pac-Man, that’s a lot of new ones to chase.

Marin Market Update

March-May Market: Year-over-Year Comparisons

Some indications of year-over-year cooling from the very hot spring 2018 market, pretty much across the board. The median house sales price ticked down a bit. The larger decline for condos should be taken with a grain of salt due to the relatively low number of condo sales over the period.

SOLAR STYLE

Solar generated power is growing by leaps and bounds with many homes installing solar panels to do so. Solar is the third-largest renewable energy source in the USA power sector, having surpassed biomass in 2017. The U.S. electric power sector plans to add more than 4 GW of new solar capacity in 2019 and almost 6 GW in 2020, a total increase of 32% from the operational capacity at the end of 2018. California, North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York and Utah are leading the charge. I love it! What I do not love is how many solar panels are being installed with a complete disregard for esthetics.

Tesla has designed solar roof tiles that blend in perfectly with the esthetics of a structure, although their rollout has been delayed as they refine the product. Some designers include solar panels into the roofing system so they virtually disappear. I am all for saving the planet and reducing operating costs, but I think some good design is essential in doing so without making the planet uglier. This article showcases how solar can become part of great design and seamlessly blend into the architecture of a building.
